Karen Shaeffer has been a resident of West Jordan for 27
years. She has great love for this city where she has raised her family and
been a community advocate. For years she has been a volunteer as a Cub Master
for the Boy Scouts of America, as well as a mom coach for little league sports.
She then went on to the Chair Person for the fund raising committee of “Mountain
America’s Wild West Jordan Playground,” which raised $350,000. With her
devotion and love for this country, she co-founded the “Thank a Soldier Day”
which was proclaimed by Governor Huntsman as a observance to thank our armed
forces on March 19th every year.
Karen was born in Salt Lake City and raised in Altamont,
Utah. After raising three boys as a stay at home mom, she returned to school to
earn her Master Degree in Business. She is currently employed at Columbia
College of Salt Lake as the Campus Admissions Manager. She has been married to
Bart Shaeffer for 27 years, who was awarded the “2009 Citizen of the Year” by
the West Jordan Chamber of Commerce. Karen and Bart both own and have operated
a successful business for over 20 years. Karen enjoys being with her mother and
three grandchildren and being active in her Church.
